The much-anticipated Goodfriend beer garden and burger house will host a beer (and a little wine and whiskey too) extravaganza Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the Peavy-Garland road location, on the patio because the restaurant isn’t exactly finished yet.
The guys plan to tap the Franconia beer barrel, “a 200-year old 13.2 gallon beer barrel full of cask-aged ale”, at 3 p.m. and they are super pumped about all of the other “beers in attendance”, according to the Goodfriend Facebook page:
… Stone brewing will be sampling their Sublimely Self Righteous American Black Ale. Brooklyn Brewery will be offering Brooklyn Lager on draft. Wait! Wait! Not done… Ommegang Brewing will be sampling out large bottles of Rare Vos a very easy drinking amber ale. The old school traditional East Coast IPA will be provided by Harpoon Brewing… Avery Brewing is offering their Collaboration Not Litigation Ale in large format bottles that we will be sampling out. Left Hand Brewery will be present with their Milk Stout.
Now for our not just beer lovers. Our friend Susanna Partida will be on hand representing N2 Wines and demonstrating our “wine on tap” program with 1 or 2 whites and reds each. Then we were trying to think of things that go really well with beer and we remembered that we sure do love whiskey! So we invited our great friends from Jameson to come out and they said yes! They even said that they would provide the whiskey! Gotta love that! They will be on hand to sample out the greatest irish whiskey in the land, in small servings of course.
Owner Matt Tobin recently told our business writer Meghan Riney that he hoped to open in June, but that didn’t happen — via FB, owners say the opening date is a “lil up in the air”.
Despite the heat and the fact that the place isn’t actually open, I think we can expect a pretty big turnout, as this seems to be getting some buzz, at least among by beer loving crowd.
