At this year’s Rosewood Awards, Dallas Children’s Theater raised $74,000 for its literary and educational programs.
Each year, DCT invests nearly $200,000 in literacy for children through its various programs like “Curtains Up On Literacy,” “Page to Stage” in the Dallas Public Libraries and DCT’s purchase of vouchers for more than 10,000 free tickets to the “Mayor’s Summer Reading Program.”
“Since 1992 DCT has provided free tickets to school children participating in the Dallas Public Library’s Mayor’s Summer Reading Program,” said Benefit Chair and DCT Executive Board Member Elizabeth Showalter. “Through this literacy partnership, every child in Dallas can afford tangible, accessible and professional theater that brings literature to life. The Rosewood Awards celebrate the philanthropic endeavors that make this and other outreach literacy programs at DCT possible.”
