Lake Highlands sophomore Nathan Bucki has won the statewide Overall Award of Excellence in the PTA Reflections Program for his literature entry entitled, “The Stars of Life.” His work will now make its way to the national competition.

This year’s contest, with its “Together We Can” theme, drew nearly 70,000 entries from students all over Texas. Nathan’s winning submission was one of 1900 pieces that advanced to the state level, and 900 students received recognition. Nathan alone will advance to nationals in the literature competition, senior high division from Texas.

The Texas PTA will host an awards ceremony for students receiving statewide Awards of Merit, Awards of Excellence and Overall Awards of Excellence in Austin this summer. Hopefully by then Nathan will be sporting a National Reflections medal. Congratulations, Nathan, and good luck!
