While he’s serving overseas in the U.S. military, Lake Highlands High School grad Clay Hendon admits he sometimes misses the faces and places of home. So he was pretty excited to get a care package recently with a few LH items enclosed. His friends in the Moss Farm Alliance Against Crime, a neighborhood crime watch, sent some goodies, including one of their window stickers. Clay says, in a way, that’s exactly what he’s doing – protecting the neighborhood.

Clay, an Army Captain, is currently stationed along the Arghandab River Valley in the Kandahar Province of Afghanistan. His mom, Missie, works at LHHS and leads a team of prayer warriors who email messages of support and send care packages from home. In this photo, Clay proudly sports an LHHS football t-shirt he received. She says Clay (and she) are both grateful for the support.
