On this week’s podcast, we chat with Joan Walne, a 7-year City of Dallas Park Board veteran and newly appointed board president. She spent most of the day Monday celebrating the groundbreaking for the soon-to-be-constructed Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden at the Dallas Arborteum, and tells us what children (and their parents and grandparents!) have to look forward to when it opens.
We also discuss our neighborhood trails, including how the new Lake Highlands Town Center trail will connect to White Rock Lake, and learn about updates to both the Lake Highlands North and the Willie B. Johnson recreation centers. Walne also tells us how budget cuts have impacted our parks, and why advocates — such as the new Friends of the White Rock Creek Trail — can make such a difference.
