When the 83rd annual Academy Awards ceremony goes live this Sunday on ABC, plenty of people will have ideas about who should win the big awards, but one LH movie critic is making a bold prediction. Charlie Vann, who graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 2006, writes for the University of Texas at Arlington The Shorthorn and is picking Inception to win the Oscar for Best Picture. While the mainstream media focuses on The King’s Speech and Social Network, Charlie makes a strong argument for the thriller with “amazing visual effects and a great story.” You can see the rest of Charlie’s picks here.

You’ll see another LH face on the official Oscar website – LHHS grad Chris Harrison, also known as host of The Bachelor, gives watchers a bird’s eye view of the Oscar countdown in his “Road to the Oscars” webcast.

The Academy Awards show begins at 7 pm here, and the Red Carpet fun starts at 6, but cable channel versions of all that craziness will no doubt go on all day long.
