The Executioner’s Son, a play about a professional executioner’s struggle with 15th century family life, kicks off at the Bath House Cultural Center this weekend. Shows are at 8 p.m. Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sunday through 2.19. Most tickets are $25—details here.

hard 2 spel dad, a play about adolescents (for teen and tween audiences) with learning differences, is part of the Teen Scene festival at the Dallas Children’s Theater. This week’s showtimes are Saturday, 2.12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, 2.13 at 1:30 p.m.

Heart and Soul 5k and 1 mile race is Saturday, 2.12. Register at 8 a.m.; 1 mile begins at 8:30 and 5k goes at 9 a.m. It’s $30 and proceeds benefit AVANCE, a non-profit that does much great work in DISD with at-risk students and families.
