Five Lake Highlands students have earned the highest individual achievement available to high school musicians. Jordan Chumbley, Rachel Jones and Roman Milan were named to the All State Choir, and Dillon MacIntyre and Jack Stewart were chosen for the All State Band.

“It feels amazing, seeing all of our hard work pay off,” said Rachel, who will study to become a choir teacher, probably at Centenary College, next year. “The most nervous part, actually, wasn’t the audition itself. It was sitting in the room with all of the other auditionees, waiting to hear your name called or not called.”

Jack is a familiar face to many in LH since his parents, Ann and Pat, played clarinet at LHHS when they were in high school. Jack, just a sophomore, plays clarinet in the marching band and tenor sax in the jazz band.

Dillon, a junior, was seen on the football field in white uniform portraying “Romeo” and playing trombone in the band’s halftime show, “Starcrossed.”

These five talented and dedicated musicians will travel to San Antonio in February to represent the RISD at the annual Texas Music Educators Association Clinic and Convention. Congratulations!
