“This was a good weekend for Lake Highland’s wrestling,” Pete Grieder, Lake Highlands head coach said. “We have now established ourselves as one of the better teams in the area after knocking off Keller Central”.

The Wildcats beat Highland Park  63-10 on Friday, then hosted four other teams on Saturday.  In the dual wins LHHS beat Berkner 47-28, Wylie East 78-9, Arlington Heights 81-3 and Keller Central 49-31.

Juniors Duncan Mcauley, Nathan Schulman, Biak Thang, Lee Lueder and Ryan Branch and Sophomore Deandre Brumfield and freshman Thayer Atkins all went undefeated for the weekend.

To add even more intrigue, this is not even the complete Wildcats team yet.

“After Christmas we hope to get three senior captains back in the lineup,” Grieder said. “Reid Zambardino, Braden Fair and DD Fields, all have been out the first half of the season with injuries.”

The JV team shutout Highland Park Friday winning all 14 matches  75-0. That bodes well for the future of this program.

LHHS will compete in the Saginaw tournament on Friday and Saturday before taking a break for the Christmas holidays. The Wildcats are 18-1 in dual meets heading into the Christmas holiday’s.
