Lake Highlands hosted and won the 14th Annual Lake Highlands Tri-State Classic over the weekend, defending its title from last year.
With nearly 24 teams and 700 wrestlers from all weight levels, the meet was a fantastic measuring stick for the Wildcats team.
“Defending the Tri-State team championship from last year was one of our goals,” Pete Grieder, Wildcats wrestling coach said. “The boys knew that and were driven to reach that goal. Every one of the wrestlers scored points, making it a true team championship in every sense of the word.”
The varsity team scored 229 points beating The Colony by 70 points. Eight individual wrestlers placed in the top three spots in their weight class. First place finishers were juniors Nathan Schulman and Lee Lueder. Placing second were juniors Parker Starr and Trace Mears, sophomore Deandre Neroes and freshman Thayer Atkins. The third place finishers were senior David Davis and junior Henry Offord.
