When you go to the Lake Highlands vs. Jesuit game this Friday, you are in for a halftime treat. Both bands are particularly talented, having won multiple honors and awards.

The Wildcat Marching Band recently earned a Superior rating at the Regional UIL Marching Contest and will compete again this Saturday at the Area level. The Area Contest will be held at Mesquite Memorial Stadium (Scyene Road exit off LBJ), and LHHS is slated to perform at 11:15 am. The top ten bands will compete in the finals later in the evening, with the top four bands advancing to the State Marching Band Competition in San Antonio.

One band dad I spoke to is hoping to see a sea of red in the viewing stands Saturday. At the regional contest, he said, a busload of football players in their team jerseys showed up to cheer. “Here were some football players out on a Wednesday night supporting the band,” said James Wilson. “It would be GREAT to have some LH supporters come out and back the Wildcat Marching Band at the area contest!”
