LHHS grad Max Hartman stars in Harold Pinter's Betrayal
Lake Highlands High School graduate Max Hartman returns from Los Angeles this month to star in the Kitchen Dog Theater production of Betrayal.
The play, written by Nobel Laureate Harold Pinter, begins with Emma, who feels her marriage breaking up and asks to meet with her former lover Jerry (Max). As they reflect on their seven-year affair, the story is told in reverse chronology and a different kind of betrayal is revealed.
The Dallas Morning News, in its favorable review of the show, said “Hartman creates complexity by the simplest of means. He seems so relaxed, but somehow he conveys wariness, jealousy, panic and shame all at once.”
You can catch Betrayal at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary (The MAC), 3120 McKinney Ave., until October 9. Tickets are available here and cost $10 to $25. Most shows begin at 8 pm, and there is a 2 pm Sunday matinee.
