Brad Mason program frontWhen Mary Vann travelled to Starkville, Mississippi to visit her daughter Ali, an LHHS graduate and freshman at Mississippi State University, she figured it would be fun to go watch a football game. Opening the gameday football program made her feel right at home. Pictured on the cover and featured inside was LH’s own Brad Mason – Bulldog Student Athlete of the Week.

Brad is a sophomore on the MSU golf team, and he had a remarkable freshman season. He finished the year with a top 10 individual finish at the Southeastern Conference Championships in St. Simons Island, Georgia. His achievements on the golf course earned high praise from his coach and attracted the attention of the athletic department.

When he was chosen to be spotlighted as Athlete of the Week, “I was utterly shocked, to be honest,” he told me. “It was really exciting and amazing to see my picture on the front of the football program. It’s kind of nice to be recognized for once, considering that golf doesn’t really get the recognition that football and basketball and other big-sports athletes receive.”

Brad looks forward to the coming season. “Heading into my sophomore year I am very excited for where our golf team is headed. I feel that our golf team, as well as myself, could make some huge strides this year. After having a very successful summer of golf, I have lots of momentum and confidence going into this year. I can’t wait for the tournaments to start and to see how it all plays out.”
