Did you hear the helicopters last night about 9 o’clock? Police were searching for a man who stole a car then ditched it – with his child still in the car. According to the uniformed officers combing the wooded areas all around my house (the Royal Lane and Skillman vicinity), when police gave chase to the stolen vehicle, a man wearing black and white checked pants and a white t-shirt jumped out and ran, leaving (apparently) his own child alone in the car. (The child was cared for by police and is fine.)
We saw at least 20 squad cars, some rolling with search lights, some parked with men on foot probing creek bottoms Tommy Lee Jones-style, doing a “hard-target search of every hen house, out house and dog house” in the area. The helicopters were gone by about 10, I don’t know if they found the man or gave up trying.
