In the most anticipated announcement of the summer – bigger than LeBron going to Miami, bigger than Bret Favre retiring/unretiring – Lake Highlands’ Desmond Roland committed to play football at Oklahoma State last week.

Roland (6-2, 204 pounds) chose OSU over Arkansas and TCU but had many other offers.

Roland is an outstanding running back and receiver who should be a good fit in Oklahoma State’s new spread offense, which is now coordinated by former Mike Leach protege Dana Holgorsen.

He had an outstanding season in 2009 with 17 touchdowns, 1,24o yards rushing and 504 receiving. He will likely be an even bigger workhorse this season with LH having a younger quarterback replace the Harvard-bound Ricky Zorn.
