Coaches Randy Lucas and Tatu help LHHS junior Glory Williams with the national championship trophy
LH’s own Glory Williams and her Sting 95 club soccer team brought back the U.S. Youth Soccer national championship trophy this week after defeating the Scorpions Elite from Massachusetts. The win gives the Sting club its ninth national title since 1980.
Glory, who will be a junior at LHHS, was named 2010 Co-Defensive Player of the Year in District 9-5A. She’s expected to be a dominant force on the Lady Cats’ team when the school year begins anew, and she’ll be surrounded by a strong crop of returning players who also earned all-district honors: Maggie Olvera, Avery Voigt, Lena Anderson, Kelsey Munoz, Brinkley Field, Jennifer Kunz, Norma Perez, Natalie Morris and Diana Sharber.
Glory said she had a blast playing for Sting in regional and national games – especially the championships in Overland Park, Kansas on Saturday. Congratulations, Glory!
