Finally, an excuse to hit the local pub at 7 a.m. Trinity Hall Irish Pub’s (Mockingbird Station) regular hours are daily 11 a.m.-1:30 a.m., but rest assured, they will be open for all the big soccer matches. In fact, they opened today at about 6:45 and served breakfast. This place is fun to the gills, but they take three things very seriously: food, beer and soccer. Of course, you can look to their web site for a schedule of World Cup games. Here’s how one neighborhood resident described his experience watching sports at Trinity: “It was raining outside and we ducked in here — a soccer match was on TV and people were drinking beer and going nuts … and it just felt like we had stepped into another world.”
The Stone Elephant (Skillman and Abrams) also extends its hours for the big game and they have great sub-$5 lunches from 11 a.m. -3 p.m. too.
O’Rileys (Forest and Greenville) opens at 7 a.m. every day except Sunday in honor of the World Cup. “Come on in; we’re ready for ya,” said a cheery bartender at about 8 this morning.
Fox and Hound (Skillman and I-635) is touting themselves as the “World Soccer Headquarters”, and they are hosting a bracket challenge with $50 gift card prizes.
British Rose Pub (Greenville and Forest) not any special hours, but you can catch the games there during regular business hours 11 a.m.-2 a.m. — plus, they have pretty rockin’ fish and chips.
