LHHS varsity cheerleaders present donation checks for Buckner Children's Home to Evan and Lizzy Stuller in memory of Emily Stuller, 2006 Wildcat cheerleader, and to Wild for Cats chairman Bill Keffer.

On the Boneyard turf at Saturday’s Red White game, as the senior football players, drill team and band members were being introduced with their colleges of choice, a presentation was being made. In the hoopla of the big game you may have missed it, but it was worthy of note. The Lake Highlands High School varsity and JV cheerleaders presented checks to causes dear to their hearts, and they chose the spring game as a chance to include the generous community who made the gifts possible.
In memory of Emily Stuller, 2006 LHHS graduate and varsity cheerleader, $2,000 was donated to Buckner Children and Family Services. Emily also played volleyball for the Cats and served on Student Council before a tragic car accident claimed her as she drove to class in Waco, where she attended Baylor University. Emily’s brother Evan, a 2003 LHHS grad, and sister Lizzy, a 2007 grad, accepted the check on her behalf.
Cheer captains Celeste Blanton, Tori Cronin and Margaret Henderson also presented $1,000 to the Wild for Cats Academic Booster Club in support of the LHHS College and Career Center. Wild for Cats Chairman Bill Keffer accepted the donation with gratitude and invited the squad to attend the donor board dedication ceremony Thursday, May 13 at 6 pm in the school foyer.
The cheerleaders raised funds by holding a cheer clinic for 100 elementary school girls in January and buy selling Build-a-Cats throughout the year. A previous check for $1,200 was awarded to Healing Hands Ministries at the October “White Out” football game, made possible by selling white-out shirts donated by Herb’s Paint & Body.
