In response to my inquiry, Stephanie Colovas of Prescott Realty confirmed that horizontal construction at the LH Town Center continues. They are nearing completion of infrastructure, which means streets and utility access (electrical and plumbing). Some of the trees saved from the land have been re-planted along the boulevards and park area. Others will have to wait until the buildings are in place.

If you drive by the intersection at Walnut Hill and Skillman, you have probably noticed some lanes closed, due to installation of curb cuts and enhancements to the pavement.

Prescott anticipates this phase of construction will take until summer. At present, financing for vertical building has not been secured, due to the current tight lending situation. Even so, Ms. Colovas emphasizes the size of the project, its location and the Dart Station will all work to attract the right tenants and financing as the economy continues to improve.

There are no updates on leases at the moment, but it appears Prescott is interested in ideas from the rabble (us Lake Highlands residents) because I was surprised and pleased that Ms. Colovas has some recollection of my name, even though we haven’t met or spoken before.  Could it be because I have been wishing and hoping and fantasizing about the Town Center for years, and whenever I get the chance I publish my Town Center dreams in print or on the blog?

Prescott and businesses, if you are reading remember — bagels.  B-a-g-e-l-s.

Keep your fingers crossed, and post your fondest wishes.
