The 2010 Elks Lodge baseball tournament did not start well for the Wildcats as they were beaten, 12-6, by the Lovejoy Leopards at hom Thursday night.
After trailing, 7-2, in the fifth inning, juniors Blake Woodson and David Bloodworth smashed home runs to cut the Leopard lead to 7-5. Senion Judson Luther added another homer in the seventh inning.
Senior Byron Burns was LH’s most consistent offensive weapon, spraying base hits in each of his first three at-bats.
Burns started the game on the mound and was relieved by seniors Tim Davis and Mark Longoria.
The varsity plays Laredo Cigarroa at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the JV playing immediately after at 4 p.m. against South Grand Prairie.
