Whether you observe Lent or not, you can score some pretty good fish specials during Lenten season (that’s now through April 2). Here are a couple of cases in point:
Every Friday during the Lenten season Aw Shucks and Big Shucks are offering grilled tilapia with rice and veggies for $9 — an entrée that’s normally $11. You can also get half-price oysters from 3:30-6:30 p.m. And in my opinion, one of the best yet most overlooked items here is the key lime pie. It’s one of the manager’s family recipes, always made fresh inhouse, and some of the best I’ve ever had.
Café Brazil is also offering a grilled tilapia dinner for $9 every Friday night during the Lenten season. And if you’re a teacher, just a reminder that you always get a 20 percent discount here with proof of ID. If you have a Facebook account, become a fan of Café Brazil. I got a free dinner there earlier this week just for being a fan, and they run online promotions like that pretty regularly.
