Six Wildcat wrestlers are heading to the Delco Center in Austin for this weekend’s UIL state championships. The LH Sports Blog will be providing updates throughout the weekend.
Seniors Isaac Kinsella (pictured), Isaac Grieder, Brent Bono and Ebrima Njie will compete for Lake Highlands. Senior Robbie Penny and junior DD Fields are alternates.
Two of the LH wrestlers are undefeated: Kinsella is 35-0 in the 135-pound weight class and Grieder is 55-0 at 160.
Bono is 40-8 in the 189-pound category and Njie is 50-3 at 215.
Matches begin Friday morning and, depending on how well they do, the wrestlers could compete until Saturday night. Team morale is high and a strong showing is expected from LH.
"I have a very tough match to start the tournament," Bono said. "But if I wrestle my best, I could definitely place well."
