It was another exciting meet Thursday for the Lake Highlands gymnastics team. Although one of the key competitors, Kristen DeCosta, is injured and unable to compete yet, the varsity took second place as a team.

LH had outstanding performances from Sarah Phillips, Kelsey Kearney and Lauren Patterson on floor. Caitlin Antkowski led the JV team by taking fourth all-around.

Hannah Van Meter excited the crowd with a beautiful beam routine, despite some lingering ankle pain. Hannah took third on vault, third on bars, second on floor, second on beam and second all-around.

Sairie Morrison added some excitement by "making up" part of a floor routine to music that was not hers, due to a technological glitch. She still managed to do an inspiring routine and won floor with a 9.6. Sairie also won the vault with a 9.9, won bars with a 9.75 and won the all-around with 38.45.

The LH gymnastics team competes again next Thursday, Feb. 11, at the Highland Park Invitational at Highland Park. The meet is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
