Minutes after the UIL realignment was revealed, the athletic directors and coordinators of the new District 9-5A sat around a large round table at the Birdville Fine Arts/Athletic Complex and began hammering out schedules for the next two seasons.

With little change in the district lineup, and most schools already having handshake deals for non-district games, it’s all about stadium availability now – at least in football.

"It’s good stuff," LH football coach Scott Smith said. "We are excited to be back in with these guys. The last two years have been positive for both the RISD and the DISD and we look forward to continuing that.

Once again, Lake Highlands will be in District 9-5A (Region II) for the next two academic years along with Jesuit, Samuell, Skyline, Sunset, W.T. White, Richardson and Berkner.

Current district members Carrollton Creekview and Molina will drop to Class 4A. Samuell will come up from 4A to 5A, and Jesuit comes over from the current 8-5A (Plano, Allen, Wylie and McKinney Boyd).
