1. Tell us about State Duals and has LH done well there in the past?

Grieder: The state duals is sponsored by the Texas Wrestling Coach’s association. It has been in existence for about 20 years.  Teams have to qualify as one of the best 16 teams in the state to be invited to participate.  We have been consist participants on a yearly basis as we are consistently one of the better teams in the state.  In 2008 we placed 6th.  In 2002 we placed 3rd.  Those were are most recent top six finishes.  The other times it was somewhere between 7th and 13th.

2. What makes LH a good dual meet team?

Grieder: Our team is good because we have three state level kids that are still undefeated leading the team followed by what I consider to be about seven other way-above-average kids, and then five that are still above average, just not way above. In other words, a very balanced team from bottom to top.  The only unfortunate thing is that we have never put the full lineup out at one time. This weekend, we will still be missing two starters for sure and probably two others depending on past injuries.

3. Will you eat the 72-ounce steak at the Big Texan while you’re in Amarillo?

Grieder: I do not plan on eating the steak!  There won’t be enough time this weekend, but I love steak and feel that I could do it if I had to. Of course I would probably get sick right afterwards!  My boys can tell you that I can eat a lot when I want to.
