Lake Highlands United Methodist Church invites you to join them as they work to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti by assembling Health Kits to provide necessities for those in need. The effort is part of a national program by UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief.

Each kit packed in a sealed 1 gallon bag will include:

• 1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27")

• 1 washcloth

• 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)

• 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)

• 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)

• 1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes)

• 1 large tube of toothpaste (4.5 oz. or larger, expiration date must be 6 months or longer)

• 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages.

You can bring the complete contents of a kit or multiple kits, or you can donate, for example, 24 washcloths or ten boxes of toothpaste or a dozen combs. Kit-assembling parties, open to the entire LH community, will be held Wednesday, January 20 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm and Sunday morning January 24 between 9:30 – 10:45 am at the church. As an added bonus, the LHHS Wildcat Wrangler dance team will entertain the worker-bees Wednesday night. The church is located at 9015 Plano Road at McCree.
