The Lady Wildcats took first place in the Richardson Ice Bowl tournament over the weekend, defeating South Grand Prairie in Saturday’s finals 4-0. Goals were earned by Brinkley Field, Maggie Olvera, Erin Gossett and Nena Rubin in the championship game. They beat Flower Mound Marcus Friday night 1-0 with a goal by Lena Anderson and Garland High Saturday 2-1 thanks to scorers Maggie Olvera and Kelly Munoz.

The varsity boys got third in the Ice Bowl, defeating Lewisville 3-1 in the consolation game with goals by Luke Stringer, Murphy Short and Reagan Dunk. They lost to Flower Mound Marcus, (the team that won the tournament) Friday 1-2, only scoring when Jonathan Esselin put in a penalty kick after Chris George was fouled in the box. Beating Colleyville Heritage 1-0 earned them the right to move on to the playoffs, and you can see video here of sophomore Reagan Dunk’s shot hitting the post and junior Emmet Kumeh putting the ball in on the rebound.
