I’m not sure how Christopher George fits all his activities into one 24-hour day. Each morning during the fall semester, he interned at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, participating in financial research. After a challenging afternoon courseload of AP classes and Wildcat soccer practice, he found time to be a senior class officer, Eagle Scout and member of National Honor Society and Student Council.

Chris plays defensive midfielder for the Cats, and he’s already hoping to make the playoffs, though the team just began preseason play. “I expect us to do well,” he told me. “This team plays with surprising intensity, considering that we’re all close friends and we’re having a great time. We have several strong returning players – we’ve played together for a while.” “Our toughest district opponent will be Richardson High, especially since they beat Allen in Jesuit Meinster. We want to beat (former LHHS assistant coach) Ryan Logan and show him that we’re made he left us,” Chris joked. “Actually, he’s a really cool guy.”

Chris, the fourth of four boys, calls his parents, Linda and Bob George, his biggest supporters, but he also gives credit to girlfriend Emilie Murdock for sitting through many a match in the frozen bleachers. “She hasn’t missed a game yet,” he said. Chris won’t be playing college soccer (he’ll be attending UT), but he hopes to play intermural soccer with a fraternity or dorm floor team. He says his biggest honor was being accepted into the Professional Internship Program at LHHS (that’s how he got his Morgan Stanley gig), calling it “one of his best high school experiences.” “I learned a lot,” he added. “It was something new every day.”

As his high school soccer career begins to wind down, Chris reminisced about one of his favorite soccer memories. “Back in our JV days, we were playing Plano West on their turf. It was a tough game – we’d been working hard and the game was tied. In the last ten seconds, (teammate) Ben Toler put in a goal and we all just jumped up and piled on him as the buzzer sounded. We were so happy – it was great to win it."

Chris’s message to the fans is simple – “Come out and watch us play. We have a lot of talent on our team, and we’re hoping for more exciting moments like that this season.”
