Matt Stover is still kicking – and doing it well.

Stover, a 1986 LH graduate along with former San Francisco 49ers great Merton Hanks, will kick for the Indianapolis Colts in Saturday’s AFC divisional playoff game. Only problem is, he will have to do it against the Baltimore Ravens, with whom he spent most of his 20 NFL seasons. Stover helped the Ravens win Super Bowl XXXV over the Giants in January 2001.

There’s an excellent story in today’s Baltimore Sun about what Stover and his family have gone through this year – getting cut from the Ravens in the off-season, then getting a call from the Colts in mid-season. For some reason the linky thing isn’t working for me today, so here’s the URL:

A little trivia for you: Stover scored the last point in Texas Stadium history when he kicked the final extra point in the Ravens’ 33-24 win over the Cowboys on Dec. 20, 2008. Stover also kicked four field goals in that game.
