The event was a Shootout, and the LH boys basketball team was one bullet shy in two games.
LH played both games of the Brooke Nichols Shoutout on the opponent’s home floor and lost both by two points. On Friday, the Cats lost, 65-63, to Lakeview Centennial, a state-ranked team. Saturday, the Cats lost to South Garland, 54-52.
Wildcats coach Rob Wylie was pleased with the performance against Lakeview, a game that was played during the school day.
"We played them in front of their student body – who knows how many people," Wylie said. "We were down eight points with 2:03 left and came back and had a couple of opportunities."
Wylie said the Cats didn’t have the same intensity the next day against South Garland.
"Just not a good effort by us," he said.
However, Wylie noted that Trey Bingham has been shooting the ball well. Bingham scored 20 against Lakeview and was 6-of-8 from 3-point range.
The losses leave LH with a 6-7 record heading into Tuesday’s non-district game at Carrollton Newman Smith (6 p.m. JV, 7:30 p.m. Varsity). The Cats open district play at home Friday against Skyline.
