The Lake Highlands wrestling team started the Thanksgiving holidays with a great win Tuesday night against Arlington Martin.  Wrestling in front of a standing room only crowd of over 350 fans, the team came from behind to win seven of the last eight matches and bring home the victory, 42-28.

One of the keys to the dual was 135 lb. Isaac Kinsella’s high-energy pin against a state-ranked opponent in the first period.  This got the crowd on their feet and increased the electricity in the gym.

Another key to the dual was a strategic error on Arlington Martin’s part.  In trying to increase their ability to win, they purposely avoided 171 lb. state finalist Isaac Grieder by forfeiting to him and bumping up their next two wrestlers.  This decision motivated the LH team and the crowd.  The next 2 wrestlers made them pay as 180 lb. Reid Zambardino and 189 lb. Brent Bono ended up winning their respective matches to take the lead. LH never looked back.

LH is now 12-0 and looking forward to the Lake Highlands Tri-state classic on December 4th and 5th, a tournament with over 25 teams and 600 wrestlers participating.

On the JV level, LH won 66-3.  Led by juniors DD Fields and David Davis, the team won 13 out of the 14 matches.
