The other day, while running along Swiss Avenue near Baylor, I noticed a memorial plaque at the corner of Swiss and Washington honoring Erin Lahr, the woman who died during the White Rock Marathon last December — her 30th birthday would have been Tuesday, according to a Facebook page dedicated to her memory. The plaque reads “Her passion for life and her determination will forever inspire. The footprint she left behind will keep her spirit alive,” and there is a White Rock Marathon finishers medal draped over the top. A quick web search shows that Lahr’s family and friends last October dedicated the plaque near the spot where she collapsed.
