Good drink specials on the Friday night are practically unheard of — but Kona Grill offers them during not one, but two happy hours. From 3 to 7 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m. you can get $2.50 margaritas and beer, plus half-price sushi and appetizers. But those specials are only offered at the bar, and seats fill up fast.
If you’re not much for crowds, you can always head for the main dining room. A group of friends and I recently made a night there, which had plenty of space for our large party on a Friday night. I opted for the sushi sampler, which included plenty for about $15. The menu offers a pretty even split of sushi and entrees, which is nice when you’re dining with folks who prefer their dinner cooked. There’s also gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian dishes. This spot also offers a weekend brunch, which includes sushi — making it one of the few spots you can get pancakes and a spicy tuna roll.
