The Lake Highlands boys won the District 9-5A meet and junior Meron Fessahaie (pictured) was the runaway champion. The girls team finished third at district.

"Unfortunately our region is one of the toughest regions to be in, so it is extremely hard to move on to the state level," LH coach Alonna Knott said. "Meron actually has a chance to move on if he is mentally prepared and runs his race like he normally does.  I believe he is right in the mix for being a top 10 finisher."

At this point, there’s no holding back for either of the LH teams.

"The boys and girls may have a chance to move on as a team, but it takes five kids placing really well in order to have a score low enough to move on,: Knott said. "I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I believe the goal for all of them right now is to PR, which means to run a personal best."
