Believe it or not, high school basketball is about to begin. The LH boys basketball hosts Irving MacArthur at 10 a.m. Saturday in the first scrimmage of the season.
LH will be a little short-handed for this scrimmage. Aaron Mazibuko is the only returning full-time starting practicing right now. Demarcus Bernard started about 12 games last season.
Ricky Zorn, a returning starter, and Matt Werther won’t join the team until football season ends. Trey Bingham and Tevin Elmore are the other returning varsity players.
"For us, the first scrimmage is always about intensity & execution against a varsity opponent," coach Rob Wylie said. "We think we have been working hard and this is a good chance for us to gauge where we stand with just over a week until we open the season. It also gives us a chance to see what things we are doing well and it allows us to determine what areas need more work."
LH will also scrimmage at Pearce at 4:30 p.m. next Friday (Nov. 13) before opening the season at home against Plano West at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 17.
