Now we know who LH will meet in the next round of the playoffs: Copperas Cove defeated Mesquite Horn last night in Waco. We just don’t know when and where yet.
The story in the Killeen Daily Herald says the LH-Cove match will be Friday or Saturday, but the UIL window for the area round also includes Thursday. Playing on Friday conflicts with football and a Saturday match could be problematic. For one thing, the annual GSL Barn Dance is Saturday night.
The Cove coach has reserved Waco High for the next round but said the match may not be played there. Waco High is where Cove played Mesquite Horn last night, so it’s no longer a true neutral site for both teams. I know, a gym is a gym, but LH hasn’t played there this year and coaches like everything to be equal.
As soon as we hear the LH-Cove playoff pairing, we will let you know here on the blog.
