– Just to clear things up: Head coach Scott Smith said running back Desmond Roland’s absence was not the result of any disciplinary measures. Smith wouldn’t offer any more details about why Roland was held out against W.T. White, but he was emphatic that Roland had not been benched for disciplinary reasons.

– Wesley Garth who came up with a couple of big passes and ran for a touchdown against White has been coming on lately, Smith said. Garth is getting a chance to shine since the season-ending injury to Anthony Harris.

 – Smith was also pleased with the play of backup quarterback Michael Ketchmark, who showed a strong arm and some good running instincts subbing for starter Ricky Zorn. Smith said both of the freshman backups, Ketchmark and Trent Jones, have been doing good things.

 – If I’ve deduced the tiebreakers correctly, LH has technically clinched a playoff berth with two games remaining. The Wildcats could theoretically finish with three losses in district play, but would own head-to-head tiebreakers over Richardson and Berkner.

Looking at the 10-5A standings, if everything stayed the same, LH is looking at another meeting with South Garland in the first round of the playoffs. North Garland and South Garland are the likely Division II representatives in 10-5A and those two play each other Friday. That will be a score worth watching.

Skyline and Berkner will likely be the Division I teams from 9-5A and LH the district’s top seed in Division II ahead of either Creekview or Richardson. Thus, LH will face the lower Division II seed from 10-5A in the first round.
