Scott Hanks is the Wildcats’ starting center and is also a captain of the football team. Hanks, a junior, is also a member of Lake Highlands’ country western dance group, the Wranglers.

Q: I know that you are a Wrangler, does your dance background ever help you on the field?
A: I don’t know if it ever actually has had an effect, but I like to think that my Wrangler dancing helps out my footwork a little bit. I’ve even joked some with Coach Urbantke about it if he ever mentions Wranglers.

Q: Who is the funniest football player in the locker room?
A: Donald Myers, he’s hilarious, and he knows when it’s alright to be funny and when he needs to be serious.

Q: What is your favorite song on your iPod right now?
A: "The Second Coming" by Juelz Santana just because it’s an awesome pump up song and it describes my mentality on everything I do.

Q: What is the last good movie you’ve seen?
A: The new "Transformers", I’ve been hooked since the first one came out.

Q: Do you have any specific pregame rituals?
A: I have a playlist on my iPod that I always listen to during the bus ride and pregame that builds from chill bus music to pump up songs that I listen to right before the game starts.

Q: What are you looking forward to most in your junior year?
A: I think I’m looking forward to a good playoff run and getting prepared for another good season of football.

Q: If you could play any other sport at Lake Highlands what would it be and why?
A: Baseball. Without a doubt. I was a catcher and it was so much fun but I drifted away from it before my freshman year.

Q: You are a Wrangler and football captain. Do you have any tips for balancing such a busy schedule?
A: For me it’s keeping positive all the time, even on days where it seems like too much to handle. I also try to just focus on what I’m doing at the time, because that helps me separate out my day, rather than trying to think about it all at once.
