An Aldi grocery store under construction at the southeast corner of Northwest Highway and Abrams is one of 25 in the Dallas area expected to open in March. The store that’s under construction in Lake Highlands used to be a Sav-On Foods discount grocery store. "This is a brand new market for us, so all 25 stores are starting construction at once," says Aldi spokeswoman Heather Tarczan, who is based in Chicago.
Aldi is building a distribution center in Denton, which is expected to be complete in January, and the stores could open as early as March.
Aldi is a discount grocery chain with over 1,000 stores in 29 states, according to its Web site. These will be the first Aldi stores in Texas.
