Whitney Ohlhausen, 2009 LHHS grad and freshman on the golf team at Harding University, had the best tournament ever by a Lady Bison last week and set two school records. Harding U, located in Searcy, Arkansas 50 miles northeast of Little Rock, is a Division II, private coed liberal arts college playing in the Gulf South Conference. It’s also home to fellow former Wildcat Antoine Harrison, all district running back for LH last year and Bison football player this year, and Haley Maturi, who danced as a Highlandette.

Whitney (shown here receiving congratulations from her grandfather) led Harding to a tie for seventh place of 17 teams in the Drury Fall Shootout with her second round score of 75, the lowest single round ever recorded by a Lady Bison. Her tournament score of 152 also set a record, and she finished fifth among 97 golfers, six strokes behind the winner. Whitney is one of three freshmen on the team: Whitney’s roommate from Seoul, South Korea and a girl from Springfield, Missouri.

Mom, Kim, is admittedly proud, especially since Whitney didn’t start playing golf until she was 15. She says Whitney chose Harding because she was recruited for golf and because of the excellent academics. She’s a pre-med student majoring in psychology, but she still finds plenty of opportunities for shopping – even though Searcy has no NorthPark Center. Today, Whitney competes again as Harding hosts its annual Bison Fall Golf Classic. Go (former) Cats!
