The RISD kickball team, made up of teachers and school staff members from all over the district, won the Corporate Challenge kickball tournament held this weekend at Breckinridge Park. I got to hear all the fun details from Lisa Grinsfelder, who taught science for many years at Forest Meadow Junior High before moving to Berkner in 2000. Her daughter, Emily, now teaches and coaches at Apollo Junior High and led the team to victory.
The RISD team defeated Texas Instruments in the final Sunday, in a charity event which raises funds for Special Olympics. Also joining in the fun was Clayton Claridy, one of my favorite all time RISD employees. Clayton was at the LH Freshman Center for years, giving love and discipline (those always go together for the good teachers). His job title now at Pearce, according to their website, is Behavioral Adjustment. Other players with LH connections include Alexis Derbin, science teacher at LHJH, and Amy Laska, who handles Special Education at LHJH.
Future events include billiards, softball, bicycling, soccer, swimming, Texas Hold ‘Em, flag football, badminton, dominoes, and dodgeball. Go RISD!
