The Dallas Morning News released its Class 5A area preseason poll over the weekend and Lake Highlands is ranked No. 17 out of 20. District 9-5A rival Skyline is No. 3 behind Allen and Cedar Hill. Non-district foe Garland is No. 6.
The LH-Skyline game is listed as one of the season’s top games, with LH-Garland also getting a nod.
And if you’re a big believer in rankings and ratings, LH is a five-point underdog to Mesquite according to the Massey Ratings.
The rankings go out the window starting this weekend when LH takes on Mesquite at Pizza Hut Park. The Cats and Skeeters kick off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
