Lake Highlands tied McKinney Boyd in pool play, both finishing with identical 2-1 records, on Friday’s opening day of the Allen Texas Open. However, Boyd’s head-to-head win over LH meant the Wildcats placed second in the pool.
LH lost its crossover match (Championship Rd. 1 according to the tournament bracketing) to Sachse, 25-16, 27-25, 25-20.
That means LH will face District 9-5A and RISD rival Berkner at 8 a.m. Saturday in the first round of the Challenger Bracket. Win or lose, it looks like LH will play at least one more match at 10:30 a.m., and another two more matches if the Wildcats keep winning.
Both scheduled matches Saturday will be at the Lowery Freshman Center in Allen.
