Freshman middle blocker Bonnie Vernon, the only ninth grader on the LH varsity volleyball roster, apparently suffered a severe ankle injury in the team’s first match of the day at the Allen Texas Open.

The injury is significant not only because Vernon is a promising player, but because the Wildcats carry only 12 players on the varsity and nearly every one makes a contribution in every match. Vernon is also the second-tallest player on the varsity at 5-10. Sophomore Matalee Reed, who played a major role as a freshman last season, is the tallest at 6-2.
