Lake Highlands takes on Hebron tonight at LHHS (JV at 6 p.m., varsity at 7 p.m.) having learned some things in last weekend’s Duncanville tournament. LH, 3-3 overall, won its first two matches in Duncanville, then lost its next two and was eliminated.

"[I learned] we had a lot to work on," coach Melissa Christman said. "I obviously didn’t get them ready enough."

In tonight’s match, Christman said she wants to see the team execute fundamental elements of their game.

"We’ve got some things we’re working on," Christman said. "I need to see some staples, things we have to do every match, no matter what."

LH opens the Allen Texas Open at 9 a.m. Friday against McKinney Boyd.  The Wildcats play Parish Episcopal at 11:30 a.m. and finish preliminary play against Denton Guyer at 2 p.m, all at Allen High School.

Christman said the team has maintained in upbeat attitude despite a disappointing finish in Duncanville, a tournament LH won last year.

"It was quiet on the bus, but they all went out to a movie afterwards, which is perfect," Christman said. "That [positive team attititude]was a special gift for my first year. They’re great."
