The Lake Highlands High School drill team gave a preview performance Saturday for friends, family, and students. After completing dance camp last week, it was the ‘Dettes chance to show off the skills and routines they’ve learned and build the buzz about the coming year.
It was standing room only in the small gym, with new captain Karin Claussen leading the charge. Director Lauren Turnbull, who replaced recently retired Shannon Carlton, shared with the crowd her plans for the year and praise for the team for working hard all week. After the performance, Suzy and Lewis Pollok, parents of 2005-06 Captain Mimi Pollok, made ice cream sundaes for the team, and the LHHS Bell Boys presented decorated cowbells to the Dette officer squad.
