The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands will host their annual Fourth of July parade and carnival Saturday. The parade will travel down Church Road in front of Lake Highlands High School. We’ll have video on Monday.

This year’s Grand Marshall will be The Military, honoring active and retired service members raised in or living in LH. The Bell Boys will collect donations to be used by LH Military Moms to send care packages to our men serving overseas. The carnival will be held near the Lake Highlands North Recreation Center and will begin immediately following the parade.

More, after the jump:

The children’s mini-parade, featuring decorated bikes, wagons, and pets, begins at 9:00 am (participants should gather at North Highlands Bible Church at 8:30 am). Look for toddlers (and their family dogs) dressed as the Statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam. Prizes will be awarded.

The main parade begins at 9:15 am and will include LH cheerleaders, Highlandettes, and Wranglers, along with a wide variety of neighborhood organizations. Judging of floats begins at 7:30 am in the Northlake Elementary parking lot, with $500 going to the grand prize winner.

The Exchange Club is hosting a canned food drive on behalf of the Network of Community Ministries and cans may be brought to the carnival for drop off. Entrance to the rec center pool will be free all day. For more information about participating in the parade or carnival, contact Bryan McCrory at 214-707-9080.
