Coming off one of the best sports years in Lake Highlands history, there are not a lot of coaching staff changes heading into 2009-10.
The most significant coaching change was in the highly successful volleyball program, where former Highland Park assistant Melissa Christman replaces Cory Williams.
Russell Urbantke has been elevated from assistant to head boys track coach with the departure of Brandon Carder, who is now the defensive coordinator on former LH assistant Marvin Sedberry Jr.’s staff at Baytown Lee.
Carder had coached the secondary on the football team. Middle linebackers coach David Hall will now coach the defensive backs and new addition Rod Sneed will coach linebackers.
Sneed is a former standout defensive back at Colorado and North Mesquite. He will also be an assistant track coach.
"I’m really excited about having Rod on our staff," head football coach Scott Smith said. "I’ve had an opportunity to coach with him at a couple of camps. His coaching style is really intense, but positive. In that sense he’s going to be a great fit on our staff."
