The Texas Exes, UT’s Alumni Association, has awarded scholarships to eight outstanding students in their rising freshman class, and LH’s own Alexandra Atalis made the cut. She will receive up to $10,000 per year for four years as part of their Texas Exes Awards for Scholarship and Leadership. Alex was chosen from a pool of more than 7,000 applicants, the largest group ever to apply.

Alex was the valedictorian of LH’s class of 2009 – an amazing feat considering the time she spent participating in school activities. She was a singer in Espree, a member of the Highlandettes drill team, vice president of the senior class, and Homecoming Queen. “Even among these outstanding applicants, Alex blew everyone on the committee away,” said Larry Lauck, whose three kids graduated from LHHS and who serves on the Texas Exes scholarship selection committee.
