Looking for a new way to work out or something fun to do as a family that doesn’t involve being outside in the 100 degree heat? Try Dallas Rocks, a boulder and rock climbing center located in Lake Highlands.

The climbing center, which opened March 17, 2008, has a few options for anyone who wants to get in touch with their inner monkey. Day passes are available for kids and adults and cost $12 plus rental gear. There’s also a $21 day pass with “the works” which includes your shoes, harness and chalkbag.

Weekly specials include a “lunch pass,” (a half price day pass) which can be purchased between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, free gear rental night on Wednesdays and on Thursdays students get half off “the works” pass.

Climbing clinics are offered every Tuesday evening for women and Thursday evening for men and are free with the purchase of a day pass.
